Three Central Valley arts organizations are recipients of special grants from the California Arts Council. The Creating Public Value grants were awarded to 87 organizations statewide that submitted the strongest proposals to enrich their local communities through the arts.

The grants are:

  • $10,000 to El Teatro de la Tierra of Fresno to help produce the first part of “De Canto y Camino”/”About Life and the Journey,” a new recording of songs by Agustin Lira, a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow.
  • $9,500 to the Youth Orchestras of Fresno to fund the International Youth Orchestra Festival, which hosts young musicians from around the world rehearsing with artist-teachers and culminating in a concert.
  • $7,500 to the Mariposa County Arts Council to support “Rediscover American Art,” a year-long program celebrating America’s heritage through art and music to a rural community.

The Creating Public Value grants are funded in part from the state’s Arts License Plates program.
