The UCSB Department of Theater and Dance opens its 2010-11 season with the Pulitzer Prize winning drama, HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE, next Friday, November 5th at 8:00pm.
Tickets for HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE are currently on sale online: <http://www.theaterdance.ucsb.edu/>
As told by the play’s main character, Li’l Bit, HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE recalls the progression of the relationship between an older man and Li’l Bit as a young girl, set against the rural backdrop of 1960s Maryland. The focus on the pair, surrounded by a chorus of family members, reveals a troubling coming-of-age tale of complicity, forgiveness, and acceptance. UCSB faculty member Tom Whitaker directs.
There are ten performances of HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE starting November 5th and running through November 13th in the HSSB Performing Arts Theatre (No late seating).
