
UCIRA Artist Tanya Merchant presents Eurasian Ensemble Concert, Saturday, June 7 at UCSC
Eurasian Ensemble Concert
Central Asian traditional music and dance

Location: Music Center Recital Hall, UC Santa Cruz
Master dutarist and Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, Malika Ziyaeva, has travelled from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to join master frame drummer and Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, Abbos Kosimov, and the 12 members of UCSC’s Eurasian Ensemble for an afternoon of Central Asian traditional music and dance.
Students will perform Uzbek folk songs and dances, as well as classical maqom on dutar (two-stringed lute), doyra (frame drum), and voice.

Doors open at 2:30pm.
