Bay Area native Gerald Casel presents the San Francisco premiere of his most recent evening-length dance Visiter. Powerfully performed by eight captivating performers who are joined by long-time collaborator, Tim Russell, who will play an originally composed score, Visiter continues Casel’s investigation into the use of random number generators to create original movement that emulates feeling disoriented and dislocated following years of moving around in search of home. This physically charged and thought-provoking work probes the construction of identity and place by physically representing displacement through process, rendering, and metaphor.

Visiter was originally presented at Motion Pacific with support from Arts Council Santa Cruz County. The San Francisco premiere is made possible, in part, with support from Theatre Bay Area’s CA$H Grant. Gerald Casel is a participating member of CHIME at 10, the 10th anniversary program of CHIME (Choreographers in Mentorship Exchange), with mentor Margaret Jenkins.
