Come eat, drink and talk about why making art counts at Theatre of Yugen on November 14 at 6 p.m. in San Francisco.

Professor Larry Bogad will be speaking on, and moderating, a panel for Theatre of Yugen. The panel will include the Rhodessa Jones, Donald Lacy, Jr., and and Emmett Till Family representatives and founders of the Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation Airickca Gordon-Taylor and Ollie Gordon.

Before the performance of Emmett Till, a river on November 14, audiences are invited to a Pre-show Symposium discussing the relevance of art to advance social causes. The symposium will be led by Professor L.M. Bogad, author, performer and the founding director of the Center for Artistic Activism/West Coast, discussing the importance of art to address social issues. Professor Bogad has been a commentator on political performance on Air America, NPR, and other radio stations and has led Tactical Performance workshops helping activists create performative, nonviolent images to contest and critique power.

Yugen will perform their new, haunting piece EMMETT TILL (co-written by a Theatre and Dance PhD alum, Judy Halebsky).
