“All the land shall dance now, dance again, when Bromius leads the dance…”
Dionysus meets drag culture in this new setting of Euripides’ tale of divine retribution. The god of ritual madness returns to Thebes to take revenge on the ruling house for an insult to his mother, putting a spell on the local women and taking them to the forest for an ecstatic dance. King Pentheus bans the festival and orders the arrest of the man at its center. Dionysius shows Pentheus and all Thebes the place of Bacchic revelry in dramatic, bloody fashion.
