UC Santa Cruz will offer students and faculty across disciplines the opportunity to collaborate with groundbreaking Uzbek artist, Malika Ziyaeva, a renowned dutar (two-string lute) teacher and performer. In addition to mentoring students and faculty, Ziyaeva will work with UCSC’s Eurasian Ensemble and dancers to give public performances at UCSC and UCLA, as well as a lecture-demonstration at Silk Road House in Berkeley, presenting Uzbek classical and traditional music in a modern frame.
