Special Performance by the UCSB University Wind Ensemble to Honor the Victims of the Isla Vista Tragedy on Thursday, May 29th

Paul Bambach directs the University Wind Ensemble in a special concert honoring the victims of the Isla Vista tragedy.

When: Thursday, May 29th at 8pm

Location: Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall, UC Santa Barbara

Join us Thursday, May 29th at 8pm in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall for a special concert by the University Wind Ensemble. Admission is free to students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.

Thursday’s event will highlight works that are among graduating students’ favorite compositions to perform, and so it seems fitting to dedicate a portion of Thursday’s concert to the victims of the Isla Vista tragedy. As such, the event will be free to all who wish to attend.

In keeping with an ensemble tradition of featuring works by UCSB student composers, the program will also include a premiere of student composer Azeem Ward’s Adieu.

In honor of the victims of Friday’s senseless and tragic events, the ensemble will present Rest by Frank Ticheli, an arrangement of his choral piece “There Will Be Rest” based on the poem of the same title by Sara Teasdale. The ensemble will also perform Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre.
