Minan Gallery Presents: Michael Schmitt’s solo show, Ca Marche ! Casting the Muse.

Michael Schmitt was born in Culver City California grew up in the South Bay cities of Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach. He attended El Camino Jr. College (AA) in LA County, and graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara (BA and MFA). He studied with Robert Thomas and Ludwig Redl. He was a collaborator with Isabelle Greene and Associates landscape architect as designer/ fabricator of landscape lighting and garden structures for 5 years. His professional background includes having worked at Goldwyn Studios as a Grip, Local 33 International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and Paramount Studios sculpture staff shop local 755 (IATSE).

Schmitt also taught Sculpture and 3D fundamentals at Santa Barbara City College and at the University of California Santa Barbara. He is presently working at University of California Santa Barbara Department of Art as Senior Laboratory Mechanic since 1991, University Professional Technical Employees (UPTE-CWA) Local 4.

His art has been exhibited nationally and internationally, presently showing works at Raouls Textile Design showrooms in Santa Barbara and the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.
