Lawrence Bogad: GEORGE ORWELL SQUARE, BARCELONA: THE DEPARTMENT OF DREAMS, HOPES, AND FEARS.

Lawrence Bogad (UC Davis): $1,000 for GEORGE ORWELL SQUARE, BARCELONA: THE DEPARTMENT OF DREAMS, HOPES, AND FEARS. November Mini Grants

Lawrence Bogad will be traveling to Barcelona this December to perform an Orwellian piece in George Orwell Square. Named in honor of the author of 1984, this was the first public square in the city to have surveillance cameras! It is ripe for an ironic guerrilla performance. I will perform my mock-bureaucratic piece, THE DEPARTMENT OF DREAMS HOPES AND FEARS, in the Square with the support of local artist-activists I met when performing on a squatted military base in Barcelona this summer.

Bogad’s performance was featured in the Barcelona magazine BCNMES on December 13, 2013.
