International kite master Basir Beria, a specialist in Afghan fighter kites, was the kite master on location in China of Dreamworks’ The Kite Runner. In this workshop, the master shares his knowledge of this Afghan art form and teaches participants how to make an Afghan fighter kite. Beria will demonstrate how to whittle bamboo for the kite frame and provide pre-cut materials so that participants can assemble their own kite, which will then be flown on the UCLA campus.
For adults and teens ages 13+.
Limited to twenty participants.
