Kimberly Jannarone: Peer Gynt in a Digital Age (The Gynt Project)

• Kimberly Jannarone  (UC Santa Cruz): $10,000.00 for Peer Gynt in a Digital Age (The Gynt Project)

The Gynt Project is a yearlong interdisciplinary collaborative project that includes a multispace performance of “Peer Gynt,” a gallery exhibition, and a conference, “Peer Gynt in a Digital Age.” Digging deep into the Norwegian traditions from which Henrik Ibsen’s second play sprang, we combine scholarship with new performance techniques to bring this epic play into the 21st century. Using two theater spaces as well as the outdoors, we move our audience through a landscape composed of history and innovation, guided by live performers and digital technologies. Our roster of international collaborators includes representatives from Norway, national leaders in digital performance, students, faculty, and world-renowned dramaturges. All of these will be presented to the community through multiple interactive venues.
