Invitation to Feb. 18th Conference on Media Distribution at the UCSB’s Pollock Theater

The Carsey-Wolf Center’s Media Industries Project, in collaboration with the Rupe Chair in the Social Effects of Mass Communication in the Department of Communication, invites you to join us on February 18 for a day of lively discussion about the future of media. Net Worth: Media Distribution in the Digital Era is a free, one-day conference that brings together industry professionals from companies including Warner Bros.,
Disney, and Microsoft, and media scholars from across the country, to look at diverse aspects of the digital distribution revolution, including new technologies, creative labor, media strategy, and corporate structure.

The conference will take place in the Pollock Theater on the UCSB campus, starting at 9:30 AM and feature three sessions. The program is as follows:

9:30 – 10:00 – Welcome
10:00 – 11:30 – Technologies of Digital Distribution
11:45 – 1:15 – Digital Strategies of Media Conglomerates
3:00 – 4:30 – Compensation and Creative Labor
