Shakespeare’s Globe has unveiled an on-demand video platform offering access to a back catalogue of more than 50 productions as well as free interview content.

Globe Player is apparently the first service of its kind in the theatre world and lets users rent or buy productions as HD films. The current collection features titles from 2009-2012, with 2013 productions said to be coming in the near future. Rentals cost between £2.99-£3.99, while buying a film outright will be £4.99-£7.99.

Some highlights include 2012’s Twelfth Night starring Stephen Fry and productions of Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo & Juliet, and Henry VIII. These sit alongside interviews with the likes of Dame Judi Dench, Ewan McGregor, Sir Ian McKellan and Jude Law.
