Fran Siegel: Artist Talk and Gallery Tour

When: Wednesday, November 20, 2013, 5:30pm

Location: AD&A MUSEUM, UC Santa Barbara

Fran Siegel will discuss her commissioned project, Translocation and Overlay.

As Artist-in-Residence, Fran Siegel has developed an innovative drawing project that examines the landscape, history and current state of the Santa Barbara region. Through 50 unique drawings and related porcelain components, Siegel visually deconstructs the city. Her drawings, based on typical and atypical data sets from different time periods, are related to items such as topography, rock distributions, city layout, population dispersals, migratory pathways, and even the location of swimming pools. Built on her use of real data, Siegel’s installation constructs an alternate, imaginary version of Santa Barbara that collapses time and space.

This exhibition has been supported by an in-kind donation from Grafix, Consumer Products.
