The University of California Institute for Research in the Arts supports embedded arts research through critical exchange

Exchange and Encounter at the Nelson, March 5, 6:30pm

When: March 5, 2014, 6:30pm

Location: Richard L. Nelson Gallery, UC Davis

You are invited to Exchange and Encounter, an experimental collaborative project between Graduate Students in Art Studio and Creative Writing. They will be presenting the results of their engagement on March 5th at 6:30pm.

The collaboration was organized in three phases. First, Secret Exchange: writers from Lucy Corin’s Theory of Fiction course left secret objects and short texts in the project space at the Nelson Gallery. The students in Youngsuk Suh’s Art Studio course chose from those offerings and created small works in response. Second, Encounter: the students met for the first time, formed groups based on these exchanges and designed a method for working collaboratively. On March 5th, they will be presenting the results of their collaborations in the project space at the Nelson Gallery, the final phase.

Please join us and see the results of their explorations in disruption and influence on the creative process. A short discussion and Q&A session will be followed by the presentations.
