Daniel Rudin: “Ecologies of Self-Representation: Promoting Rule of Law in the Filipino Workplace through Documentary and Social Media”

Daniel Rudin (UC Santa Cruz): $5,000 for Ecologies of Self-Representation: Promoting Rule of Law in the Filipino Workplace through Documentary and Social Media. Graduate Arts Grant.

For years Filipino trade unions have dealt with rule of law issues, including extrajudicial labor killings. Through facilitating ecologies of documentary and social media self-representation, Daniel Rudin will assist the Labor, Education, and Research Network (LEARN) in their stated goal of trade union, political and popular education. The research will thereby explore “convergence culture” theory as a facilitator of participatory politics and political empowerment.
