D. Inés Casillas (UC Santa Barbara): $1,000 for The Political Poster Strikes Back: The Graphic Arts of Favianna Rodriguez. Co-Sponsorship

In collaboration with UC Santa Barbara’s Center for Ethnic Multicultural Archives (CEMA) as well as the Chicano Studies Institute (CSI), the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies will be hosting Oakland based graphic artist, Favianna Rodriguez. Inspired by social movements, Rodriguez uses the posters to bring public attention to issues ranging from immigration, reproductive rights, labor, education, and globalization. Her three-day visit to UCSB will include a public exhibit of 40 political posters, a public lecture, as well as a public reception.
