Something is owed to public opinion. As spectators, we transpose our values and beliefs upon the symbols of our time. The celebrity embodies our ideals and it is through them that we can come to some understanding of our own collective desires. Justin Marsh explores this concept at Axis Gallery with a body of work considering fame and defining the structure of failure. What we gain from this musing is a sequenced look at the human condition.
Marsh seeks out the play of brevity and spontaneity in life. His artwork often suggests an existential dilemma. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from San Jose State University in 2007 and maintains a career in the Museum field as a Preparator. This exhibition is his inaugural showing at Axis Gallery.
