Marie Chouinard, Artistic Director

“Choreographic brilliance performed with blazing energy by an extraordinary cast.” The Toronto Star

“A hurricane of unbridled imaginativeness.” The New York Times

Pioneering Montreal artist Marie Chouinard has been a formidable presence on world stages for nearly three decades. Her innovative, award-winning choreography explores the poetics of the body in immediate and ever-surprising ways, creating sensuous imagery that commands attention. Her provocative works offer “pathways toward freedom and compassion, where humor is possible and Eros omnipresent,” says Chouinard. Compagnie Marie Chouinard will perform its re-imagined The Rite of Spring, in celebration of the centennial of Stravinsky’s groundbreaking masterpiece, as well as 24 Preludes by Chopin, a jubilant yet solemn work evoking passion, introspection and rebellion.
