Call for Curators For SF Bay Area artists

Pro Arts is now accepting applications from curators for 2 x 2 Solos, an exhibition series commissioning new work from four accomplished emerging artists based in the Oakland/Bay Area. The program, supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, recognizes artistic excellence, artistic merit and supports the freedom to create challenging and non-commercial work.

2 x 2 Solos matches curators, artists and writers. Each selected curator will produce a solo exhibition in Pro Arts’ downtown Oakland gallery space, educational materials, and a catalog featuring an essay commissioned by a regional arts writer.

Four curators will be selected for the project. Selected curators will, in collaboration with Pro Arts independent curatorial board, finalize artist selections based on studio visits held in late January/early February 2012. Final Exhibitions will take place at Pro Arts in September-November, 2012. An honorarium is provided.
