While social media and other websites can be an effective means of promoting your film, the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general are on the lookout for websites that fail to comply with pertinent laws. Anne, recently VP of Business and Legal Affairs at Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and now a solo practitioner, will provide practical information on how to conduct sweepstakes and contests legally; how to collect User Generated Content without being subjected to copyright infringement, defamation, and other claims; and why you should use a custom Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for your site and what they should include. She’ll also touch on compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN SPAM Act).
