Artist Opportunity: National Search for New Director of Imagining America

As recently announced, Imaging America is beginning a national search for a new director. Syracuse University has again been selected to be the host campus of IA, and its new five-year term will begin in July 2012 and run through 2017. Professor Jan Cohen-Cruz, who since 2007 has served in this position, will complete her term in June 2012. About the director’s position: IA seeks an established or emerging leader in the field of public scholarship with an emphasis in humanities, arts, and design. The director should be knowledgeable about higher education policy, able to advocate for IA and its mission with an inclusive range of publics, and adept at of supporting and leading movement-building for the change IA envisions. The director will be responsible for organizing locally at Syracuse, nationally alongside other higher education organizations, and among the IA member institutions. The director reports directly to the provost at Syracuse and is advised by IA’s National Advisory Board.
