
Artist Calls and Opportunities: “SERVICE” Works by California Artists Who are Military Veterans
“Service…” is an exhibition of work made by visual artists who are military veterans living in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Ventura County, as well as across the state of California.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Friday, September 26, 2014
Who: “Service” will feature the work from artists at varied levels of career between professional, emerging, and relatively unknown stature.
What: Exhibits will explore a range of diverse activities and interests developed by artist within unique points of view and expression as veterans. Using traditional visual art and other methodologies, the exhibits will provide a cross-cultural dialogue through paintings, sculpture, and additional non-traditional mediums through technology.
When: November–February 2015
Where: The primary exhibition will be featured at Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center with additional exhibits at the Inglewood Public Library and Oxnard Public Library.
Why: “Service” is a collaboration between artists with support from Visual Arts For Veterans, American Legion Post 8, and the Veteran Artists Program organization. Included community partners consist of Cal-Humanities 2014 “War Comes Home…Our veterans…Our Communities”, Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in Orange County, and the Oxnard Public Library.
PLEASE NOTE: Artists must identify branch of service, period [e.g. dates], and separation status. Please DO NOT DISCLOSE SERVICE NUMBER, SOCIAL SECURITY, or any other information which may be in violation of personal privacy or HIPPA.
