ARTIST CALL: UCSB Pollock Theater Internship Program

The Pollock Theater seeks interns to help produce and direct Theater events. The Pollock Theater offers a wide range of events throughout the year, including film screenings, Q&A’s, panel discussions, conferences and post event receptions.

Interns work approximately 8 hours per week in the Pollock Theater. There is a mandatory Friday workshop from 12PM to 4PM where interns will gain hands on practical training in all phases of live multi-camera event directing (writing, camera, editing and being the event moderator) and event producing (budgeting, logistics, marketing and developing event ideas). Interns are required to work up to 10 evening and weekend events where they will assist with producing, directing and theater management. Many of the Friday workshops will consist of practicing different types of events (Q&A’s, panels and sitcoms). At the end of the quarter, each intern will produce their own multi-camera live mock event during the Friday workshop.

This unpaid position offers interns a wealth of practical experience. Students can obtain 2 Independent Studies units through the Film and Media Studies Department or their major. See the Apply for a Pollock Theater Internship page for further details.

Successful interns will be given priority in applying for positions with the Carsey-Wolf Center’s Media Internship Program, which places qualified UC Santa Barbara students in internships with media companies in Santa Barbara or Los Angeles for two consecutive quarters.
