Artist Call – Request for Proposals for Site Specific Installation

For SF Bay Area artists

Arts Benicia Artist in Residency (ABAiR) Program for Site-Specific Installation Artists

Request for Proposals

Overview: Arts Benicia will provide one or more artists with an opportunity to work out installation ideas in its 2,000 square foot space this summer. Typically, artists doing site-specific installation have only a brief time to install, and inadequate opportunities to work in the actual space. This program will give them that time in our space. Arts Benicia has a pristine gallery in the heart of the historic Benicia Arsenal. It is well lit, has white walls and concrete floor. Our gallery is located in the heart of a large artists’ community that is situated in a former military arsenal built in the 1800’s.

This year, with funding from Benicia’s Community Sustainability Commission, Arts Benicia is concentrating on themes that have to do with the environment and sustainability. Work that addresses this theme is encouraged. We also encourage emerging artists, recent graduates and MFA candidates to apply.
