Artist Call – Newport Beach Art Exhibition

The Newport Beach City Arts Commission invites artists to participate in the 2014 Newport Beach Art Exhibition to be held on Saturday, June 14 at the Newport Beach Civic Center. The event marks a 50-year history of the Newport Beach juried art exhibition recognizing the talent and contributions of local artists.

Artists, 18 years of age or older, may submit one or two original works of art to be displayed and judged. Categories include painting/multi-media, photography and sculpture. Entry forms, along with a $15 entry fee for one entry or $20 for two entries, should be submitted to the Cultural Arts office at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue as soon as possible. Artists will be required to bring their artwork with easels or pedestals to the Civic Center Community Room on the morning of the event between 10 and 11 a.m. and pick up their materials at the end of the evening.

On Saturday afternoon the Exhibition and Sale will be open to the public from 1-6 p.m. Guests will be able to view the artwork, meet the artists and purchase some of the original artwork that will be on display. A portion of the proceeds from the art sale will fund Newport Beach community arts programs.

The event will include an awards presentation and reception at 4:30 p.m. Newport Beach City Council members and City Arts Commission members will present first, second, third place awards in the categories of Painting/Mix Media, Photography, and Sculpture. “Judge’s Choice” and “People’s Choice” awards will also be presented at the reception. Awards range in value from $100 – $300.
