Artist Call- Eco conscious art for living

For Southern CA artists

Goals are to promote and support the vital role that art and creation play in raising awareness, supporting concrete solutions and encouraging a culture of eco-conscious living.

This word is at the heart of contemporary thought and strategies used by nations, cities, businesses, and communities in order to cope with climate change. It is the subject of a movement, of appropriation, of adaptation by artistic creation. It is the term we have selected for the 2013 Malibu Lumber Yard Gallery Summer Exhibition.

The exhibit is open to an artists’ creative vision. Artwork made from recycled materials, or portraying an aspect of the environment, an idea for the earth’s conservation and adaptability by human nature is eligible. Artwork can be 2d or 3d, max size 36 x 36 x 36 inches, & can be in any media including video. The use of design, recycled materials, and minimum waste is highly encouraged. – Artists must provide all on their own display materials. Please submit max 3 images max 1mg 300dpi 6inches on the longest dimension. Selected works will need to be sent in or brought in by July 15 for installation by July 20th. Opening Reception during the Malibu Art Festival July 27 & 28th, 2013.

How do we reconcile Eco- conscious living & conservation of the earth? How do we reverse the principles that structure the relationship of the western man to his environment? Adapting to the scale of his needs rather than his capabilities. What are the values that govern our resources & choices? Who are the people that hold the keys to this adaptation? Ecologists, town planners, farmers, industrialists, lawyers, corporations, artists? WHAT IS YOUR MESSEGE?
