ALICE WANG Presents Dead-light, Saturday July 19, 2014

Event Date: Saturday, July 19, 2014

Event Time: 11 am – 5 pm

Location:

Event Category: Marinella Senatore. Building Communities

Using the exhibition as a multi-platform site of research and creation, Wang will develop and shoot a fictionalized screenplay involving performers for one episode of her experimental film project Dead-light. The film is about a form of invisible energy that can be used to destroy ICBMs in outer space as envisioned during the Cold War, or channeled through the body as Qi, like Ryu’s Hadouken move from Streetfighter©. The combination of dance floor, film set, and workshop for creative writing within the exhibition becomes a fertile ground where cross pollination can happen –between choreographing movements, to filming, to writing.

This project is part of the exhibition Marinella Senatore. Building Communities, Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, May 10 – August 17, 2014, and is sponsored separately by a grant from the University of California Institute for Research in the Arts.
