Akram Khan, Artistic Director

“A fantastic feast for the senses – design, lighting, music and dancers of all shapes and ethnicities combine in a rich glow of art.” Balletco magazine (U.K.)

“An evening of rare intelligence and artistry.” Financial Times

Drawing inspiration from Sufi tradition and Persian poet-philosopher Rumi, Vertical Road is a riveting meditation on humanity’s journey between the earthly and the spiritual by the internationally acclaimed Akram Khan Company. A profound, visceral exploration of human nature, rituals and the consequences of actions, Vertical Road features a pulsating score by longtime Khan collaborator Nitin Sawhney. One of Britain’s most innovative and influential choreographers, Olivier Award-winning Akram Khan infuses his modern works with classical Kathak dance idiom.
